Fort Bragg, CA.

Ohhh Fort Bragg. How I've missed you.

When I lived in Calfornia, I would go to Fort Bragg all the time. Whether that was with my friends, or my family, we would make a day of it. The California coastline is breathtaking as I'm sure most of you know, but when you are there, you really can't help but think, "Is this really real?"

After we ventured through the Avenue of the Giants, we cut over to Highway One and down to Fort Bragg. I was so glad that I got to show Andrew the California coast. I wish you could have seen his face.

Fun fact: Danielle, my best friend and driver of the trip, forgot her "good" CD's at home so we were left with a pile of OLD C.D's back from high school. We had so much fun dancing to Destiny's Child and Nelly to name a few. One of the funniest moments was when we were about two or three turns from seeing the coastline and I was playing with the CD player. Britney, Backstreet Boys, Celine Dion, and many more artists played for about 20 seconds or so before I'd skip to the next song.

And then BAM. Guess what song comes on when Andrew first set his eyes on that enchanting coastline?

CALIFORNIAAAAAAA...CALIFORNIAAAAA...HERE WE COMEEEEE.... Oh yes. The California song that the show "The OC" opened up with. We were laughing so hard. It was perfect.

We rolled our windows down, let the salty air fill our lungs and blared the song as loud as we could.

When we got there, my sweetie picked a flower for me. He sure does know how to make a girl smile.

These squirrels were hilarious and so friendly. I felt like they were talking in their cute little voices like, "Hey hey they got food. Go! Go! Go! Look cute. Oh they like us. Yeah Yeah Yeah! Feed me feed me! Smile for the camera. Is this my good angle? Oh yeah, chick likes me. He's cute too. Heh heh heh. Dees is da life." Am I weird? Oh yes. I guess it stems from me having voices for my dogs.

Meet Squirt the Squirrel. He had a huge personality. Seriously a mega cutie. Came RIGHT up to my camera for his picture. Then when I went to snap it, my camera went out of focus. Would have been such an adorable picture. Thanks Squirt. Thanks a lot! ;)

It was such a fun day. We then headed back to Lake County (where I went to high school) and visited with some old friends. We spent the majority of the time sleeping and eating. It rained the only day we were there so we went and saw Bad Teacher. I don't know if I was just tired, or what, but that movie was sorta funny. Not as good as I wanted it to be.

I only have two more "vacation" posts, so thanks for sticking with me. I have a surprise coming this week that I think you will like...so be looking for it.

Xoxoxo and more.

  3. Shalyn,

Okay, so I think I'm gonna cry. My husband and I spent our first wedding anniversary (w/our two month old in tow) in Fort Bragg. We stayed at a bed and breakfast (The Weller House). I love the pictures of your visit because I remember so many of the places you shared. I miss so much of California. Thank you for giving this California native a reason to smile.

I triple love road trippin' to old school music. Was the Destiny Child's CD the Bills, Bills, Bills one? It's their greatest one in my eyes ;)

And Squirt is so damn adorable! Love him!

Listening to old CDs is the BEST! I always listen to the first few seconds and then skip to the next song because I'm so excited to find out what it is :)

  7. ok really with that heart made out of your fingers? can you guys get any freaking CUTER!?!

i baked a cake yesterday and messed up on the first batch of frosting so I just dumped it into the trashbag (dont worry this story is relatable)...anyway, we put our trash out and this morning look outside and a squirrel is sitting on the trash barrel, sucking off chocolate from a paper towel!! The frosting i disposed of must have leaked onto papertowels and the squrril was having a nice snack

but what i mean by this, is our squirrils are devils, and these ones are OH SO CUTE!!

lovely pics as usual ;) you professional photographer, you!

Oh, and I totally have voices for animals too. Good to know I'm not the only one ;)

  10. After living here for 21 years, I still haven't been to Ft. Bragg. I should try to get out there soon or later. I do love camping in the Redwoods and going in September again. :)
